Academic Staff Association (ASA), being the sole representative body of the teachers of Bahauddin Zakariya University (BZU), Multan has a crucial and demanding role to play in the process of well being and interests of the community. Fundamentally, the role of a teacher in higher education has many dimensions which involve development of learning environment, improvement in the ability of the students to think carefully and critically and to express their thoughts, building character and to prepare them to meet the present day challenges. Moreover, it is true that learning does take place in any institution if the teacher is not satisfied since, a happy teacher makes more efforts to teach the students. ASA has been concerned for the economic and social uplift of the teachers and clearly aims to make them happier. I wish ASA to succeed in its endeavors and to help the University earn a place of distinction in the area of higher education.
